Overview
As part of Verizon’s Smart Family redesign, I led the design of the Family Profiles experience—a connected system that gives parents a clear, unified view of their household’s digital activity and controls. The goal was to simplify how families manage insights, safety settings, and connected devices across multiple users.
Challenge
The legacy experience fragmented information across multiple screens, making it difficult for parents to monitor and manage their children’s activity in one place. Our task was to create a cohesive, intuitive flow where parents could easily view family members, understand insights, and take action through parental controls—all without switching contexts.
Solution

We designed Family Profiles as a single, connected framework that links parents and children within one holistic view.
From this foundation, we built:
A Profile Dashboard summarizing activity across calls, texts, web usage, and driving insights.
An Insights View offering visual analytics on usage patterns and behaviors.
A Parental Controls hub enabling filtering, scheduling, and content management—always accessible but designed to feel supportive, not restrictive.
The result is an experience that empowers parents to stay informed and involved while fostering trust and transparency within families.
Impact
The new design established a scalable foundation for Verizon’s premium Smart Family offering. It streamlined navigation, reduced setup complexity, and laid the groundwork for richer parental insights in future releases.
